Golf Club Length Chart
A standard men’s 7-iron is 37" to 37¼" and a standard men’s driver is 45½" to 46" on current sets from PING, Callaway, Cobra and Mizuno. The chart below gives every club, men’s and women’s, read from each brand’s own spec page on 27 October 2026.

Standard golf club lengths by club
Each range runs from the shortest to the longest figure the brands publish for that club. “Not published” means none of the sets read lists it. Length is measured with the Rules of Golf method: the club soled at 60 degrees, from the sole to the top of the grip.

What length should my clubs be for my height?
Standard length suits most golfers between about 5'8" and 5'11"; taller or shorter golfers usually move about half an inch per 3 inches of height. The chart above is the starting point those adjustments are made from, so a “+½ inch” result means half an inch longer than your own set’s standard, not longer than a fixed number.
Our club length calculator for your height and wrist-to-floor gives that adjustment with a trial range. Juniors below about 4'10" should use the junior club sizing guide instead, because adult standards do not scale down.

Putter length chart
Standard putters are 33, 34 or 35 inches long; Scotty Cameron and Odyssey sell all three and PING’s standard is 35 inches. Odyssey’s own fitting method is to measure from the floor to your wrist in golf shoes and subtract two inches, then try half-inch steps either side.
| Putter | Lengths |
|---|---|
| Scotty Cameron Studio Style and Phantom | 33", 34", 35" (custom right-handed lengths in ½" steps) |
| Odyssey Ai-ONE, Ai-DUAL and TRTL | 33", 34", 35" (34" as configured by default) |
| PING Anser 2 and Scottsdale | 35" standard |
| PING Scottsdale CB mid-length | 37¾" with a 17" grip |
| Scotty Cameron Studio Style long design, Odyssey Jailbird Cruiser | 38" with a 17" grip |
| Wrist to floor, in golf shoes | Starting length |
|---|---|
| 33" | 31" |
| 34" | 32" |
| 35" | 33" |
| 36" | 34" |
| 37" | 35" |
Then check it at address. Scotty Cameron says the right length sets your eyes 1 to 2 inches inside the target line: too long and you stand upright with your eyes further inside, too short and you hunch with your eyes outside it. The PGA’s quick test is to drop a ball from your lead eye; it should land on the ball you are addressing.
The Rules set a minimum of 18 inches and no maximum for putters, but you cannot anchor the club against your body (Rule 10.1b), so long putters are used with the hands and forearms free. Arm-lock and broomstick-style models run from 38 inches up. Your putts are on your scorecard either way: Golfonaut on Apple Watch records them hole by hole.
Common questions about club length
What is the standard length of a 7-iron?
A standard men’s 7-iron is 37" to 37¼" long on current PING, Callaway, Cobra and Mizuno sets, and a standard women’s 7-iron is 36¼" to 36½". Measured by the Rules of Golf method on 27 October 2026.
How long is a standard driver?
A standard men’s driver is 45½" to 46" on current PING, Callaway and Cobra models, and a standard women’s driver is 44" to 45". PING’s G440 MAX is 46 inches with its stock shaft and 45½ inches with its Tour shafts. The Rules of Golf allow up to 48 inches.
Are women’s golf clubs one inch shorter?
Not exactly. On the spec sheets read for this chart, women’s drivers are 1 to 1½ inches shorter than the same brand’s men’s driver and women’s 7-irons are ½ to 1 inch shorter, so compare the actual numbers rather than assuming one inch.
What length putter should I use?
Start with your wrist-to-floor measurement in golf shoes minus 2 inches, Odyssey’s fitting method, then check that your eyes sit just inside the target line at address. Standard putters are sold at 33, 34 and 35 inches.
Are graphite irons longer than steel?
Not on these sets. PING, Callaway, Cobra and Mizuno list one length per iron whatever the shaft; PING says only that its graphite irons are 2 to 3 swing weight points lighter. Changing length does change swing weight (about 3 points per half inch) and how upright the lie angle plays at impact.
What is the longest club the rules allow?
48 inches for any club except a putter, under Part 2 of the Equipment Rules. Some professional and elite amateur events adopt Model Local Rule G-10, which lowers it to 46 inches; it is not required for everyday golf.
How this chart was made
Every figure was read from the manufacturer’s own product page on 27 October 2026, not from retailer copies, which we found can differ. Titleist and TaylorMade pages could not be read that day, so neither brand is included rather than guessed. Specialty wedges (lob wedges, tour wedges) are not part of these sets and are not shown. The chart is re-read when a brand replaces the model.

Fit the length to you
The chart is the standard. These two checks tell you how far from it you should be.

A fitting hypothesis only becomes a fit when the numbers back it up. Golfonaut on Apple Watch records your shots and shows your distance per club, so you can compare before and after any change to length, lie, grip, shaft or swing weight.
